Julie Schultheis, M.A., LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Julie is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has built her practice in Alpharetta along with several other independent practitioners of various specialties. This model continues to contribute to both her personal and professional growth.

Approximately 70% of Julie’s practice involves treating adults, adolescents and children with anxiety-based disorders including GAD, Phobias, Panic, Social Anxiety and OCD. Julie also enjoys treating clients struggling with stress management, depression, grief, and sleep disorders. She studied sleep disorders at one of the nation’s leading sleep centers, Fusion Sleep in Atlanta, and has the knowledge to help clients improve their ability to enjoy consistent, quality sleep.


Julie uses evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Treatments including exposure and exposure/response/prevention (ERP) to help clients manage and overcome a variety of conditions. She enhances her training in ERP through the International OCD Foundation's (IOCDF) Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI). Julie completed the BTTI's inaugural Advanced Training course in Boston. She has also trained with Dr. Douglas Woods of Texas A&M University in Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). Julie presented on "Treatment for OCD and Related Conditions" at the Tourette Syndrome Conference in February 2014. Keynote speakers at the event include Dr. James Leckman from Yale University and Texas A&M's Dr. Doug Woods.` 


Julie’s Masters Degree is in Professional Counseling from Argosy University (GA School of Professional Psychology), and her experience includes providing psychotherapy for adults in a variety of settings since 2003 including the Cobb County Community Service Board, Cobb Crisis Line and Access Center, Matria Healthcare and the Anxiety & Stress Management Institute. She gained expertise in treating anxiety-based disorders through extensive supervision and consultation with practicing professionals at The Anxiety & Stress Management Institute since 2006. During the past 12 years, Julie has also completed trainings by experts such as Dr. Aureen Pinto Wagner, Dr. David Burns, Dr. Patrick McGrath, Dr. Douglas Woods and Dr. Eric Storch.


in 2021 Julie was recruited to join the network of CURE Childhood Cancer providers and proudly supports the work of this organization. 

Julie was named to the  Board of OCD Georgia in 2016 and continues to be an active member of the International OCD Foundation.  One of the goals of her practice is to increase access to treatment for Georgia residents struggling with anxiety disorders and OCD.
